Appreciation My thanks go out to all those who have helped bring this work into manifestation. To the embodied and spiritual beings who have co-created this work, I bow down and give thanks. To the Dakinis, and the Great Goddess they represent, I make this offering and lay it at their feet, at Her feet. I give thanks to Christopher Hills who recognized the importance of the Goddess for the planet and created a retreat to serve her. He recognized and confirmed the Goddess energy in me and, although no longer in the flesh, has been a facilitator and constant supporter of this project. I thank all the women who have offered themselves in service to the Dakinis. May they be enriched and blessed by this experience. It this time of harsh materialism and challenging economics, it is of noteworthy significance that the models did not do this for money. I thank Wendy Doyle for stepping up and bringing an invaluable and complimentary array of skills in make up, costume and styling to the shoots. These assets, along with her dedication and casting skills, have been one of the greatest enablers of the project as it has come to completion. I thank Romio Shrestha for his inspiration and his art. This collection represents the crowning achievement in the life and art of Penny Slinger. In her career as a ‘maverick artist’, she has carved paths for herself - often where others have not dared to tread. She evades categorization. She brings together pieces of ‘reality’ to create new realities, in whichever medium she works. She has developed a wide skill-set over her artistic career both artistically and spiritually, all of which she brings to this project. Penny graduated from Chelsea College of Art, London, in 1969, with a First Class Honors Degree in Fine Art and Design. She had discovered Surrealism as an art student and this became her primary mode of expression through the mid 1970s, where she employed it to probe the feminine psyche. Sir Roland Penrose became her patron and her work was featured in ‘Young and Fantastic’, an exhibition of ‘New Surrealists’ at the Institute of Contemporary Art, London, followed by two solo exhibitions at the Angela Flowers Gallery (1971 and 1973). In 1971 her first book, ‘50% The Visible Woman’, of photographic collage and poetry, was published. After Penny discovered Tantric Art, she published: ‘Mountain Ecstasy’ (1978), ‘The Secret Dakini Oracle’ (1977-79) and ‘Sexual Secrets, The Alchemy of Ecstasy’ (1979) with Nik Douglas. Her work was exhibited in solo and group art and photography exhibitions in London and New York, through the early 1980s. Penny turned her attention to the Arawak Indians while living in the Caribbean during the 1980s and early ‘90s. She exhibited a collection of over a hundred original paintings and pastels, which became the basis for her video, ‘Visions of the Arawaks’, released in 1994. She moved to California that year and established a multi-media studio with Dr Christopher Hills. From 1997 through 2001 Penny produced a series of multi-media, sacred art events at the Goddess Temple. She released the video ‘Dance of the Cosmos’ in 2001, and, with Dhiren Dasu, the DVDs ‘Goddess Juice’ (2003), ‘Rainbow Body Awakening’ and ‘Polynations’ in 2009. The ‘64 Dakini Oracle’ represents the synthesis of the artistic disciplines Penny has worked with during her career. As a student she was told, ‘You want a glue that will stick anything to anything’. Utilizing the ‘new tools’ of digital media (all these photographic collages were composed in Photoshop), she seeks to blend physical and metaphysical realities to open portals into other, visionary but tangible, dimensions. Charya Burt is a graduate and former dance faculty member of the Royal University of Fine Arts in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Her training began in 1982 under the direction of the foremost dance masters of Cambodia. As a member of Cambodia’s royal dance troupe, Charya toured nationally and internationally. After immigrating to California in 1993, Charya has performed throughout the USA, including the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, and 12 times as a featured performer at the San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival. Charya, who has a B.A. (cum laude) from Sonoma State University, has conducted many dance workshops at colleges around the country. She has also been awarded numerous grants icluding three times from the Irvine Dance in California Program, Alliance for California Traditional Arts, the Creative Work Fund,CCI Investing in Artists, and the Choreographers in Mentorship Exchange. Here new works include Romlik Kun Know (Forever My Ancestors), Pka Kolab Khiev (Blue Roses), Intersectios Through Time, of Spirits Intertwined, and Caressing Nostalgia. A recipient of the Isadora Duncan Award for Outstanding Achievement in Individual Performance, Charya is currently a contributing artist for the Khmer Arts Academy in Long Beach, and the Cambodian Cultural Dance Group in San Jose. AnJa Indirani is a dynamic and inspiring performer. Born in London of Indian ancestry, AnJa moved to North Carolina as a young girl and has been living in the San Diego area since the age of 18. She is the CFO of a hotel during the weekdays, operates her own online store and performance company (Indirani.com), and blends tribal fusion belly dancing with fire dancing and other dance props such as Isis wings, silk fans, and swords. Her powerful sultry performances spring from the Soul and always touch the witnesses to the experience deeply. We are truly blessed to have her be a part of our ever-growing global Tribal community of dance artists. Becoming the avatar of Saraswati for the 64 Dakini Oracle was a profoundly transformative archetypal revelation for AnJa, putting her in touch with the compassionate well-spring of musically artistic Divine Grace that the Goddess in partnership with Brahma embodies.
